Assessments & Evaluations
When you schedule an assessment or evaluation with West Tennessee Neuropsychology & Mental Health Center, you can anticipate a thorough and compassionate process tailored to your needs.
We aim to create a supportive environment where patients and their families feel heard and cared for, ensuring that the assessment leads to an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment recommendations.
Discovery
Once your appointment is confirmed, our staff will email you forms to fill out prior to your office visit, including…
Family medical history
Questionnaires for significant life figures. This can include teachers, parents, or others who observe the patient regularly. Collecting this information allows our doctor to get a well-rounded picture of the patient’s behavior and daily life.
We then spend time gathering pertinent information for an accurate diagnosis. For example, a report card may be requested for a child who is receiving testing for a learning disability.
Finally, we take time to meet with each patient to review all confidentiality policies and answer any questions that might arise.
Testing
Once payment is processed, Dr. Abdalla conducts the evaluation with the patient. This can consist of a variety of testing processes and last anywhere from…
3-5 hours for adults (including breaks between testing sessions)
8-10 hours for children (including breaks to have snacks, play outside, and rest between testing sessions)
Testing can be customized based on individual needs for both adults and children. This can include spanning testing over multiple days and times to better accommodate schedules or physical limitations.
Results
Our doctor thoroughly reviews all gathered information to provide a precise diagnosis if needed.
Based on the findings, a personalized treatment plan is crafted to help the patient understand and manage their condition effectively. This individualized approach ensures that each patient receives the specific care and support they need.
